कश्मीर की तीन उद्यमी बहनों की प्रेरणादायक कहानी|
How three sisters of from Kashmir became entrepreneurs?

Here is the inspirational story of the venture of three Kashmiri pandit sisters: Seema, Shaka, and Sipika, who, after leaving their homeland, faced many adversities and achieved success, as well as setting a noble example of Women Empowerment before the world.

The exodus of the Pandit community from Kashmir:

In 1990, the Pandit community had abandoned their native place due to harassment from the local militants. Three sisters, Sipika, Shaka, and Seema, of the Bhat family also migrated with family. After the migration from Kashmir, the Bhat family found shelter in the refugee camp for a year and then shifted to Jammu. When the Bhat family left for Jammu, the age of Sipika, Shaka, and Seema was 8, 5, and 2 years.

Their Education and Job:

After initial education in Jammu, they got higher studies in Pune and Mumbai.

  1. Sipika Bhat, a most elder sister, finished her MBA and had a job in Pune.

  2. Shaka Bhat, the middle of three sisters, finished her education as Chartered Account and worked in a Corporate Company. But she was not satisfied with the job. She realized that she is not born for chartered accountancy. So in 2010, Shaka quit her job, shifted to Delhi, and worked there for few years with export houses which were manufacturing leather accessories and shoes for multinational brands.

  3. Seema Bhat completed her education in engineering and got a job at the Bank of America. She then settles in Canada in 2013 after working at Bank of America for about 5 years in Mumbai and Hyderabad.

How the idea of business emerged?

Being an employee of the corporate firm, Shaka used to have to carry a laptop along with her vanity bag, which was too inconvenient. So Shaka decided to purchase a composite bag that can carry the purpose of both. She wandered in Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta, and other market places, but disappointed to find a bag which can fulfill her need.

Then, in one golden moment, Shaka came up with the idea of making such a bag herself. She went to Calcutta and bought high-quality leather and made a designer bag herself.

She shared the image of the bag with her sisters. However, as she belongs to Kashmir, the art was in her blood, which reflected in the making of the bag, which she prepared herself.

When her sisters saw the image of the artistic bag, they got astonished and appreciated Shaka and suggested making more such bags.

Then, Sipika, Shaka, and Seema considered the possibility of marketing the bag and planned to manufacture and sell the products commercially in the brand name of SHAKA.

They form the company in the name of Homeland Fashion and Lifestyle and begin manufacturing Shaka branded bags.

Distribution of the tasks:

  • As Sipika has MBA degree, she took over the responsibility of administration and management of the company matters.
  • Obviously, Shaka is managing the production, designing, and research.
  • Seema manages the overseas sales from Canada.
